(Anyways, I know many have a thing against book adaptations. It’s valid. For me though, I love them. I’m grateful to see these characters I love come to live on screen. I just always hope that they do not deviate entirely from what it is that I fell in love reading.)
I think reading the rest of the series you'll get more of the found family feel between them. Especially by the 5th book. Seriously I laughed the entire time I read that one! It's fun. I think because it's been a while since I've read the books I didn't do much comparing. It was fun to be reminded of certain things, but I enjoyed the show very much on it's own. I also tend to separate books and movie/tv adaptations in my head though. To me they're always two separate entities. But, I will say binging this first season did make me pull out my copy of The Deal....I think it's time for a series reread 🙌🏾
Oh yes, I can't wait to dive it into the rest of the book. I unfortunately can't separate the book from the show lol. Because the show wouldn't exist without the book.

I walked away from the show feeling nothing. There wasn't much depth and maybe I'm tripping but the chemistry was missing. The book ,as usual, remains goated.
I've downloaded Boys of Tommen because of you, Feifei. I'm going to read the books for Offcampus as well, but I really really loved the show. And that cliffhanger? Shit! 😂
This is so well-articulated. I think you should watch it again, but this time, don’t compare closely with the book. I think the details they changed moved the plot along nicely. The only problem I had is that they didn’t fully capture Garret’s passion for Hannah. I loved the cast. And the whole confident and stubborn man persona fits him so well but I needed to see how that confident and stubborn man loved wholeheartedly. Even for Hannah, it felt like she was not fully in it. It’s a good show, regardless. They did their Big One.
I can never watch a book adaptation without comparing it with the book. It's wouldn't exist without the book. Yes, I would have loved more passion from Garrett too.
That’s fair but “closely” is the keyword here. Personally, I just feel like it made me look at the show as a world that was inspired by the book. Rather than a made for the book kind of thing. If that makes sense. Enjoyed reading your review, regardless. I have been commenting non stop on any review I found ever since I finished the show😆

Book readers just have to make peace with the fact that the movie isn't ever gon' be like the book.
When you start developing stories or characters for TV you just have to make lots and lots of adjustments.

Yes! I always think of TV/movie adaptations as "inspired by" the book. I honestly go into it expecting changes.
