It's My Birthday!

Chapter 23💗

This happens each year—I get excited about my birthday, then the day comes and it's just meh; like every other day. It's a cycle that I'm well used to.

However, something happened this year. Ever since I became a “grown-up”, I did nothing for ny birthday (the younger version of myself would be so shocked). I usually just treated my birthday like any other day. But for some reason, I said this year would be different and it was.

I intentionally went out weeks and days to my birthday. I went to a silent reading event which I absolutely LOVED. It's now something I'm actively looking forward to. I went to the movies for The Odyssey and Spiderman Brand New Day—both masterpiece btw. I tried out a couple of new stuff, like new food and all it did was remind me of the reasons why I never try out new stuff. I also decided to get 23 books for my 23rd birthday, but I sorta got carried away. Oops.

This year has been surprising to say the least. And I mean that in a good way. Anyway, this essay was never meant to be sort of a philosophical or “intellectual” take. I just turned 23 and that's it!

Ah, I almost forgot. Last month, I posted a birthday wishlist. That was my first time posting that. Low-key, I was worried nothing would come out of it and I'd end up looking like an idiot. But, I was surprised. Stran Dong ticked off an item and I'm immensely grateful. Cheers to that.
