First time teaching + everything you actually need to know about Substack

I'm proud and anxious to announce that I'd be teaching a workshop for the first time. This is definitely out of my comfort zone. I've been going back and forth on whether I'm actually qualified to do this, if I have enough to say, if I'm way out of my depths here.

But I've put in the work and built my substack from scratch and I constantly gets emails and Dms from people asking how I did it, wanting consultation calls I don't always have time for. So when TYWI asked if I wanted to teach, I said yes.

It's called "The Art of the Think Piece: Writing on Substack and Growing Your Audience," and if you've been thinking about booking a consultation with me but haven't been able to make it work—whether it's money, timing, or just never getting around to it—this workshop is basically the closest thing. I'm literally just teaching what I'd tell you on a call, except you get to learn alongside other writers trying to figure out the same stuff.

We're going to touch points on how to find ideas, how to develop a voice that's distinctly yours, editing without feeling like you're about to lose your mind and knowing when something's ready to publish. But we're also talking about the harder stuff, like how to stay consistent when you're exhausted, whether you actually need a niche or if that's just noise, and what to do when you're months in and convinced nobody cares because no one is reading your articles. I grew my Substack from 45 to 36k+ subscribers in less than a year, and most of that was learning what works by getting it wrong first. This workshop is me skipping the getting-it-wrong part for you.
